Jeevan Pramaan From Home: Digital Life Certificate in November, Step by Step
Pensioners can submit a Digital Life Certificate from home in November 2026. Steps, documents, failure routes and the 30 November deadline, explained simply.

Quick Answer: A Digital Life Certificate, or DLC, proves a pensioner is alive so pension payments continue. In November 2026, pensioners under 80 can submit it from home through Jeevan Pramaan face authentication on a smartphone, instead of queuing at a bank. The window runs from 1 to 30 November, and a successful face scan still needs an acceptance check afterwards.
What a life certificate is, and why November matters
Most pensioners must submit a life certificate once a year. Without it, the pension-disbursing agency can delay or stop payments. The annual November window is the familiar rhythm for central government pensioners: those aged 80 and above could submit from 1 October, while everyone else submits from 1 November to 30 November 2026. Jeevan Pramaan is the government's Aadhaar-based digital route. Instead of a paper form signed in front of a bank officer, the pensioner's identity is verified electronically and the certificate is generated digitally. The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare is running its fifth nationwide campaign from 1 to 30 November 2026, covering about 2,000 cities and districts, targeting 2.30 crore certificates, including 1.50 crore through face authentication. Those are targets, not results so far. This guide is written for pensioners and for children and family members who usually help with the phone. If you are helping a parent, you can act as the operator in the app — the pensioner still has to be present for the face scan. What you need before you start
Keep these ready, in good light with a charged phone: The pensioner's Aadhaar number or virtual ID, and the Aadhaar-registered mobile number for one-time passwords. The Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, the pension type, and the name of the pension-disbursing bank or agency. A smartphone with a front camera and an internet connection. The Android route is the well-documented one; iPhone users should check jeevanpramaan.gov.in for the current options before starting. The pension account seeded with Aadhaar. If the bank has not linked Aadhaar to the pension account, face authentication cannot complete, so sort that out first. Do not start from a link sent on WhatsApp or SMS. Install both apps only from the official app store: AadhaarFaceRD first, then the Jeevan Pramaan Face App.The steps, in order
First, open the app and authenticate the operator — the pensioner or a helping family member. Enter the operator's Aadhaar, mobile number and email, verify with the one-time password, and complete the operator's face scan. Next, enter the pensioner's details: Aadhaar number, mobile number, pension type, PPO number, and disbursing agency. Check every digit before moving on — a wrong PPO number is the most avoidable reason for a failed submission. Then complete the pensioner's face authentication. Follow the on-screen instructions, face the camera in good light, and keep the phone steady. On success, the app generates a unique Pramaan ID and sends an SMS with a transaction ID. Save both. Download the certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in using the transaction ID. A successful face scan does not by itself prove the pension authority has accepted the certificate. Check the certificate on the Jeevan Pramaan portal with the Pramaan ID, and confirm with the bank or disbursing agency well before 30 November, while you still have time to redo it or switch routes. If face authentication fails
Do not keep retrying the same scan in bad light and hope for a different result. Try again in bright, even light, with glasses off if the app struggles, and with the face fully in frame. If it still fails, use another permitted route rather than waiting until the last week: Biometric authentication at an authorised centre, using fingerprint or iris scanning. Doorstep banking, including India Post Payments Bank services, which can help pensioners who cannot travel. Physical submission at the bank branch or pension office, the old paper route, which remains valid. If Aadhaar details or the mobile number have changed, update those first — a certificate built on outdated details may not match the pension record. Also new today: EPFO on WhatsApp, and small dormant PF accounts
Two separate EPFO announcements landed on 1 November, on the organisation's 74th Foundation Day, and they are easy to confuse with Jeevan Pramaan. They are not the same thing, but both are worth knowing. First, EPFO has launched services through WhatsApp. Foundation Day reporting says subscribers will be able to check their PF balance, latest five transactions and passbook information through EPFO's verified WhatsApp service, along with guidance on PMVBRY-related requirements. Use only EPFO's verified channel, and never share a one-time password with anyone claiming to be EPFO. Second, EPFO will automatically settle eligible inoperative EPF accounts up to ₹1,000. Holders of Aadhaar-verified accounts in that range need not file individual claims; EPFO will settle after identity and bank-account verification. About one lakh accounts involving ₹5 crore are expected to benefit. Active PF accounts are unaffected; larger dormant balances still follow the usual claim process. The scam check, before you hand over the phone
Life-certificate season is also fraud season. No genuine Jeevan Pramaan or EPFO process asks for a one-time password over a phone call, or asks you to install an app from a message link. If a caller claims the pension stops today unless you share an OTP or pay a fee, hang up and call the bank on its published number. A real 30 November deadline never requires an instant payment.Your November checklist
1. Confirm Aadhaar is seeded in the pension account and the registered mobile number works. 2. Install AadhaarFaceRD and the Jeevan Pramaan Face App from the official store only. 3. Submit in the first two weeks of November, not the last two days. 4. Save the Pramaan ID and transaction ID, and download the certificate. 5. Confirm acceptance with the bank or disbursing agency before 30 November. 6. If face authentication fails twice, switch to biometric, doorstep or branch submission.Who can submit a Digital Life Certificate from home?
